This press release undersells the judgement.
The court made it clear that the Gender Recognition Act does not require any medical treatment at all beyond a diagnosis of gender dysphoria to get a Gender Recognition Certificate, and that the Gender Recognition Panel cannot use any medical treatment or lack thereof against the applicant.
This brings up the question - if no medical treatment is required, and the gender recognition panel cannot use information about it against the applicant, why is it required?
Also, a strictly binary identity is not required to be eligible for a Gender Recognition Certificate.
