Instance blocks are a reality of the network. And they're primarily an issue with centralization---at some level of decentralization they start acting no different than user-blocks. Furthermore, it's moreso a Mastodon problem vs. a problem with the wider network. Mastodon, specifically, is populated by narcissistic control freak type zealots. The rest of the network is pretty chill.
