Though, if Fediverse REALLY going to make a difference, the "opt-in" stuff needs to go.

There's too big of a learning curve to "teach" every single person about it and it's obviously more effective if it's just turned on so users can see the benefits and how the system works.

A random stranger trying to explain to someone why they should turn it on, won't convince everyone and there are those that will question every single detail about it before trying it out. In my opinion, this is Fedi's hill to get over before it will be understood and adopted more widely.
