My grandpa worked for Studebaker for 40 years. My great uncles all worked for the saw mill their entire lives until they retired in the early 80s, their tours in WWII excepted. Most of my uncles were truck drivers, and that's all they ever did. The notion that "there are no stable jobs" is very modern and inflicted on us deliberately, to keep us from ever having hope of stability.
