I fell asleep for most of the trip afterwards, until we were close to Tokyo. The shinkansen ride was just so smooth and quiet.
Tokyo seemed... dirtier than Kyoto. Like I could smell the difference in the air. There was even a whiff of pee, reminiscent of San Francisco.
We didn't get the ICOCA card when we were in Kyoto, relying on tickets and day passes instead, so we wanted to get a Suica card now that we're in Tokyo. Unfortunately, they can't be purchased from the kiosks, so we had to go to the other side of the station to find a service counter that issued them.
