Normalize being fucking patient with free and open-source software.
Normalize not saying "phew, this latest version was a fucking disaster! the old versions were better" to everyone you know, especially if you contributed no development, testing, issue reporting or other time to the software.
Normalize writing GitHub issues that thoroughly describe a problem as well as you absolutely can (you don't have to be perfect at this, but it's more important that you're patient and considerate than being exactly technically correct) without editorializing in it. Leave out the "I'm going to (paid competitor)" threats and the "This software is shit now" sentiments. You are talking to human beings who are giving you a thing for free, so the least you can do is not make them regret doing that.
