It's easy to feel powerless in the face of the web being increasingly user-hostile and forcing you to click modals away that shouldn't exist in the first place. I've installed the Ninja Cookie extension before to do something about this, but it does work so-so and is concerned with cookie-specific modals only.
Some days ago it occurred me that I could just write a bookmarklet which checks the current website, searches for the site-specific close buttons and clicks them for me. Given that there's not many sites bugging me I regularly visit, it would be easy to keep it small and simple. Add some minification and it would fit into a URL with ease.
I should have done this a lot earlier :blobcatmelt:
