Yea I'm not a fan of that either, but it's a federated/distributed system .. the devs probably don't know about the issues with dot-xyz .. I'm just asking if anyone has setup their own node or tried using it.

I think the only other git-web system that talked about federation was Gitea, and I'm not sure if they ever implemented it.
