New volcanic eruptions north of Grindavîk, Iceland.
- Started at 8.23pm. local (UTC).
- The fissure is ~3.5 km long.
- Fissure location is similar to Dec 19 eruptions.
- Lava flowing south towards Grindavík at 1 km/h. Also, west towards Grindavíkurvegur and to the east.
- Grindavîk and the Blue Lagoon evacuated.
- The current eruption is the most powerful in the current system so far, according to geophysicists.
