Having the person who is supposed to love them *permanently destroy their brains ability to function at a human level* is worse, sorry. Having neurological damage to the point where you *are in unbearable pain all the time, unable to leave your bed for the rest of your life*, and having gotten it because the person who is supposed to love you *forces you to get it* is worse.

Obviously such trauma can do damage to the way the brain is organized so there's overlap there esp over longer term of abuse, but still.
