where I get hung up is, technical capability aside: it's being run by a for-profit company, and I don't understand how they plan to please their investors. I'm not sure they do either, which doesn't bode well.

(not saying Masto will do great as a non-profit *either*, mind, but at least it's plain what the plan is)
