I'm finally reading Eske Bockelman's "Im Takt des Geldes" (2004). The core of his fascinating argument is that metric rhythm [Taktrhythmus] does only emerge with capitalist modernity. This obviously seems related, at least on some levels, to Mark Abel's similarly fascinating book "Groove: An aesthetic of measured time".
However, Abel's book does not reference Bockelmann's (which has not been translated to English). I find no publication discussing their respective arguments i relation to each other. Did nobody else read both Abel and Bockelmann?
