There are days when I miss the office. I miss the wind in my hair as I'm riding down the street shoulder to shoulder to all the other commuters on our bicycles. In the winter we'd all be crammed together on the train in silence. A podcast or an eBook my companion on my way to the office as the snow falls around the train.
In 2016, I lived in Seattle, and would go into the office twice a week (the rest of my team was in NYC .. and .. Canada .. for reasons?) and I felt that was about perfect.
I'm sure I'd hate the office if I had to go back, but I think it would be easier for me to make it out to the gym and I miss some of the social interactions. I think fully remote is bad for new people entering fields as well; and there is something important about learning things in person.
I dunno .. it's complicated.
