Just use regular Ubuntu then, why bother, do a minimal netinstall, then install just the stuff you want.
Check out PopOS — it seems to get good reviews and there is a company behind it, it's not supported by enthusiasts on their spare time — shouldn't be too bad, they've got to sell those laptops after all 🤷
