I am designing a game about crewing ships and battling each other, with some sort of basic pve mode.
I am looking at a distribution structure like... You buy a ship box (3-8 seats, maybe $30AUD-$50AUD) and a character box (8 characters, ~$10AUD) and then either another ship (and maybe characters) or a pve box (~$10AUD). And then the idea is that you can go as big as you want, if you want to put 40 people in a game and play 8 ships against each other, you can do that.
Characters would not be coupled directly to ships; each character would fill a role that each ship would have 1 or more of (3-seat ships excepted, since I'm planning four roles).
Would you consider the pricing, specifically having to buy multiple boxes, unreasonable?
