I don't know if everyone "gets" that the Fediverse is run by volunteers.
Had someone complaining to me as if they were an irate customer returning a product, and explaining to me how I'm not living up to their expectations.
I don't know what to say except patiently explain that there are no ads and no spying so this place relies on donations and grants.
It's like they cannot comprehend a community-spirited enterprise, and engage with it as if they were customer talking to a corporation.
