@are0h in my experience, that sort of shouting has less to do with helping people adopt software that *may* suit their needs better, and more about the sense of superiority. The “I know better” of it.
I say this for 2 reasons.
1. Everything you just said.
2. The speed with which some of these same people will go from: “you using this software is of absolute importance to protect your rights as a user.” To: “actually you deserve to be exploited by your software if you don’t switch.”
