JonasMy own take: Longtermism was a vacuous intellectual movement to begin with. As with a lot of Silicon Valley-endorsed ideology, its primary function was a self-serving one, in practice; a fig leaf to legitimize accelerationism, hyper-scale monopolism and oligarchy.
