@tannerman It makes a perverse sort of sense. Journalists and academics need to have a sense of connection with their networks and a sense of "influence" - that sense of influence is part of the non-monetary pay. And the network you build is in large part your value. But what I always through was interesting is that even on Twitter, the network of people was actually very small networks talking amongst themselves.
