Monday marked a full year since the war in Sudan began.
In 2021, rival military generals Hemedti and Al Burhan ousted the civilian leadership, hijacking a planned transition to democracy. The country was now at the mercy of men implicated in massacres and weaponized rape dating back to Darfur 2003. Recipe for disaster.
Their fallout has killed tens of thousands of Sudanese and displaced millions.
Al Jazeera put together an excellent podcast for the grim anniversary.
