Biden is now doing this dog and pony show where he tries to get student loans canceled/forgiven and then Republicans do their "um sweaty, you took out a loan, now pay it back" shtick, implying that people are supposed to be persuaded by this in the face of a lifetime of debt slavery for the crime of doing what their parents, teachers, etc, told them to do. Democrats won't successfully cancel a dime of this debt, but they will make Republicans look absolutely terrible to anybody under the age of 50. Democrats are going to do a similar dog and pony show with legal weed.

These are hills that only the most extreme, partisan members will fall for. It's things no sane person would ever be for, but people of a particular party/ideology will defend adamantly, because their party/ideology holds it. Student debt/weed is to Republicans in this respect as trannies/BLM are to Democrats. There's no real debate on who is correct on these topics, they're just hills to die on.
