    Hey there,
    A friend joined Mastodon yesterday, made an introduction post where he mentioned that he is gay and then received an absolute deluge of really nasty homophobic abuse.
    He was shocked and scared and immediately deleted his account.
    I don't know how this can have happened or how we can protect against this.
    Do you have any advice?
