One thing I’ve learned from teaching is that it doesn’t matter what you tell students, it matters what they heard. You thus can’t just •tell• them broad life philosophy and expect it to land. It needs a context. It needs that moment where they’re truly ready to hear it. “Everyone take a class / get training” ≠ “Everyone hears, understands, and internalizes.”
But yes, students •do• need to hear this, repeatedly. We need to weave it into the fabric.
