@timbray I'm afraid that we will have another organization that taxpayers will pay for. And the main beneficiaries are big corporations. It means, less support for independent developers. For example, if your OS project can get enough users, it will not be supported by the institution, and if it's not supported by the institution then it will not get used. In the same time, corporations can lobby their preferred OS projects to be approved by the institution.

IMHO, what we need, if corporations/companies/uses would like better quality support for OS projects they are using, then they should sponsor QA of these projects.
