When you travel in time the imprint, the shape of the present moment is a powerful force. Both the past and future have already been shaped, although the deep past is more rigid, and the deep future, much softer. Our minds can alight within any moment of their continuity. But in doing so we forget, we are reformed into the past version of ourselves, knowing only what we knew then, and nearly always doing the same things we have always done.
