How digital badges work is usually:

- there is a url/webpage in the verifier site to "certify" the badge is valid with timestamp, issuer, person who obtain the badge, the image and a "fingerprint".
- this url can be copied pasted and shared in social networks like LinkedIn profiles, and usually features the badge image as a card.
- * the user gets and email, the image and the fingerprint, which is usually signed with private key/public key methods.
