Redis did not need a CLA to do it either. This is a difference from Hashicorp, MongoDB, etc, that utilized a CLA to relicense a copy-left license. The BSD license does not require an author reattribution agreement.

Further, it's entirely possible to relicense BSD to GPL under the same mechanism, as redict has now done, regardless of whether the contributors to redis would agree to such a thing if you asked them now.
