In a hostile interaction they have to slightly shift their technique so they simply throw all sort of baseless accusations at you in a "shotgun" approach and hope that one of them pisses you off so much that you actually divulge a personal datapoint in order to disprove it.

Like cold-calling, it's very low yield, but they only have to get lucky once.
