Kit Rhett Aultman@akareilly all my worst bosses were developers promoted to team manager without support in the necessary people skills; all my best bosses genuinely wanted to be team managers and took pride in their skills. I understand the "I hate my manager" trope of decades gone by because engineering managers back then were often the managers who couldn't cut it in the fight to the top and no managers understood software engineering. But that's been less so as time goes on IME.
