Gutmensch.@kaia The big hole was standard for 7“ records. This „wheel“ is an adaptor (sorry, but I don’t know a better name) to fit the standard pin size. You could buy adapters in bulk and put them in your 45s, so you don’t have to find the puck that usually came with the turntable, but could get lost.
