Here's a fedi pro-tip, that I actually originally heard on fedi;

Don't have an argument/debate with more than one person. No debate ever stayed on topic and civil when other people start jumping in.

Instead, if you really want to continue the discussion, ask the users to slip into your DMs. Watch as no one participates after such a request, because all of the fun was riling up their followers to call you names and gain internet clout for dropping memes on you.
