The interesting thing about digitizing a collection of books (even a relatively small one) is that it very quickly reminds you how recently concepts like “unique identifiers” became important outside of very, very niche communities of practice.

I have an awful lot of books that were published before ISBNs existed, let alone bar codes to scan them. I think this is probably one of my favorites, yoinked from the piles of a local library sale.
