Even if the version of Linux is heavily patched and contains GPLv2 infringing proprietary kernel modules, it's still Linux.
PostmarketOS is quite good in how they remove proprietary drivers and mainline device-specific patches to Linux, but unfortunately they don't go all the way to 100% freedom.
How you can rescue a otherwise mediocre OS by installing GNU is always relevant.
