@signaleleven Huge real world example: When Python 3.3 made it possible to write code that was correct and semantically equivalent on Python 2 and Python 3, that was a much better point to start migrating to Python 3 than the preceding years when supporting both versions required source code translation. People who waited until 3.3 to do anything saved a lot of effort.
