@alex I can think of at least a few more productive ways to solve this problem:

No uploads on new accounts, sans pro.
At the same time, put a cap on uploads sans pro (enough to accommodate photos/gifs and shitpoasting for old school members, but w/o needing to buy new storage).

After all, I'm confident I use no more storage memory than I did 5-6 years ago.

This "solution" he's selling sounds an awful lot like he just wants to chase out the old crew. He may not mean that, but functionally, that's what it is.
