    The US is already bankrupt.

    The federal debt is $34 trillion. Paying this back in 30 years would mean that every man, woman and child in the US would have to pay ~$450 every month.       US fiscal realities are well known. Total federal debt outstanding has now reached $34 trillion, up from $98 billion in 1981, $5.67 trillion in 2000, $13.56 trillion in 2010, and $26.95 trillion in 2020.
