Like the management knows they're bitch-whipped, the investors know they're the idiots who invested in a rudderless firm, but nobody really wants to say the thing out loud so they dance around the topic and hope it will somehow go away.

But when you have a little blowup like this one, it tears away the veil and suddenly nobody can really keep up the show anymore...
