If I tell a whole group to do something, it's their collective responsibility to comply.
If I let them do their own thing, it's each individual's own responsibility.

Because if I need a whole group to do something and 1 person fucks up, then the entire rest of the group will blame that one person who fucked up, because they all failed because of him or her.
