Where "the fediverse hurting itself" = people in the Fediverse not wanting to connect with everything everywhere all the time
The only way this can be construed as harm to "the Fediverse" is if you're completely infected by capitalist brainworms and can only see failure to grow numbers as "harm" even though there are no shareholders to complain about the lack of optimized growth
