I've been serving the black community for 5 years now in areas like Inglewood, South LA, Compton, Watts, and Skid Row and without saying too much I've been responsible for a lot of folks having a chance at life at all which has been incredible to get to be a part of.
And my friend group irl is primarily POC, mostly latino, indigenous, and black folks.
I do a lot of the work that fedi folks just would not be able to, and that's been really eye opening about who deserves help because those in need would generally not pass the moral purity tests on fedi which pretends to care about protecting marginalized folks but is in reality fairly ableist and classist with its expectations of social performance, which doesn't surprise me that all the folks quick to judge and exclude are largely in the tech field and have no real impact on the material conditions of the real world and have no need to communicate outside their internet circles to see what the real world is actually like.
I'm unsavory because the world is harsh and that's made me feel fairly jaded to performative online expectations that benefit no one and contribute to harm more often than not.
