@kaia this is WW2 British Webley & Scott No4 Mk1 flare pistol used by RAF pilots during the war.
You can see the lugs on the barrel. These were used to attach the flare pistol inside the cockpit to a special barrel leading to the outside so that it could be fired from within a closed cockpit.
