We have nothing to go by but narratives. Collectively excited mental structures that act as guardrails for what is otherwise a very mysterious and silent reality.

But some of those narratives are far more broken than others :-)

And that brokenness is now almost objectively tangible as it puts at risk potentially our very survival.
