Meet Ruth Brown
The 1st Black woman in the U.S. to run a no-kill animal shelter. She ran the Peace Plantation, in Leesburg Virginia during Jim Crow south in 1950. Many frowned upon the decision to choose her as lead, because she was Black, but she still cared for the homeless animals there for 30 years being coined by it's founder as "the most caring person I know".
