Slavery has existed in multiple settings and under multiple economic systems, but racialized intergenerational chattel slavery (aka the USA variety*) was unique to capitalism. In fact it enriched and advanced capitalist financial tools, see Edward Baptiste "The Half Has Never Been Told" for details.
*Correction: intergenerational racialized chattel slavery occurred all over the Americas, wherever European colonial interests got a secure foothold, basically.
