I've noticed a sort of "infrastructure effect" where the more commonplace and reliable something becomes, the less you think about how it exists; ironically making it easy to avoid maintaining a system that is critical to having everything work.

It even happens to us when we're the ones who built the system... does this happen to anyone else?
