Danes who are interested in origins of the modern population of #Denmark might find this paper in the collection especially interesting.

It seems that all those tall and blonde #vikings came from Asia about 5000 years ago and wiped out the local population.

(I might be exaggerating and simplifying a bit)

100 ancient genomes show repeated population turnovers in Neolithic Denmark - Nature
      from Willerslev, Eske
Integrated data, including 100 human genomes from the Mesolithic, Neolithic and Early Bronze Age periods show that two major population turnovers occurred over just 1,000 years in Neolithic Denmark, resulting in dramatic changes in the genes, diet and physical appearance of the local people, as well as the landscape in which they lived.

One of my most beloved relatives suffered from the devastating disease #MultipleSclerosis. So I pounced on this week's @nature@sciencemastodon.con piece on it, but both the news item and the (no fewer than 4) accompanying papers from Willerslev's group at #CopenhagenUniversity are about so much more than MS - thousands of years of human #migration, #evolution and indeed who we are in #europe Worth a read (possibly paywalled) https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-03977-5
