@CSB I've only had/have one and so I can't generalize about the breed, but in our case:
VERY smart, but very stubborn
very affectionate lap dog, but very very needy of attention - separation anxiety
excellent with people, average with other animals
cute, people think she's a puppy even though she's 12
eats anything except her food, if you drop a piece of lettuce or celery while cooking, she'll take care of it so no need to bend over
