When I was a wee lad and internet wasn't like itnis now (very slow, very niche, almost no one had it) I had two friends who kept in contact all the time through radio. They played the same videogames and helped one another solving things talking on the radio.
I was envious and to this day, despite having far better options, I wish I had someone to talk with using radios like they did.
