If the people involved had any access to any technology and material sciences whatsoever, like a star-hopping alien civilization, stone is the LAST thing you would use. It's what you use if you know and have nothing else to build with. Figuring out how to work stone at large scale is amazing, but not alien amazing. We under-rate what ancient peoples could figure out and do when without better choices, too...
