    Yet another picture I don't remember.

    I was wondering why we have a satellite so far away (that isn't the JWST). This page says

    that DSCOVR is at L1 to check for solar wind disturbances & provide early warning. The EPIC sensor is a secondary payload - providing earth images from a stable location to compare with other satellites.
